  • Update 24/2/20 – We understand that our application for funding to carry out this complicated engineering task has been successful, and hope that the work will commence in the new financial year.

Further to updates provided in August 2019.

There has been occasions of flooding in this area for 25 years plus.

The location shown is at the foot of a large hill with many roads leading to it, there are several drains in the area.  There is a rise in the road leading to the railway crossing and this adds to the issue.

But due to many factors these drains get filled with gravel etc quicker than some other roads, this is not uncommon for a few drains.

Gullies with such issues are cleaned more often than others.

  • The bridge closure has allowed exploratory work to take place.
  • Camera equipment has been used and we have viewed the footage.
  • The drains have been cleared and the flow of water eased.
  • There is a lot of historical drainage problems in this area.
  • extensive long term solutions are currently being designed
  • We are determined to deal with this problem, and will continue to provide updates.

As the designs for extensive drainage improvements are being drawn up to solve this long term problem drainage issues may be experienced.

This means that significant investment will be needed.

We want this problem sorted as quickly as possible and will not ignore it.

Please report any highways issues- it only takes seconds
